Cost of Training

The one question which we are asked every year is, "How much will it cost?". The answer is simple, it will cost you less than at any other time of your life!! Until recently, other than OUUEG & BSAC Membership Fees the only things which needed to be paid for whilst training as an Ocean Diver and Sports Diver were a contribution towards the Hire of the Pool, the cost of the Training Manuals and any kit that you might choose to buy (although Mask, Fins and Snorkel are a must!). Diver Instruction is provided free!

The approximate costs for a new trainee diver in 2007 were

• £70 Pool Hire and Air Costs
• £40 Diver Training Manuals
• £80/90 Mask, Boots, Fins and Snorkel depending on manufacturer and place of purchase
• £200/250 Easter Training Holiday

However, for our new Ocean Civer Trainees for the 2007/8 season, the Pool Hire, Air Costs, and Training Manuals are now all included in the overall Fee as listed here. As in all things kit prices etc., are also subject to change year on year, but this gives a rough idea of training costs.

The costs of the Advanced Training depend upon whichever Course is being taken, but as these Training Courses are held within the Club, the costs tend to be fairly affordable, in fact the fees are only imposed to cover the costs of any Manuals/Learning material, and any entrance fees that may need to be paid.
