Non BSAC Training

OUUEG welcomes PADI divers (and divers from other Training Agencies) who would like to dive in the UK. Other than initially as a Guest diver, you will of course need to join OUUEG to dive with us, bringing all the benefits we have listed.

If you are a PADI diver, OUUEG offers you the option to continue with your PADI training or if you wish, to cross over to the BSAC courses. With OUUEG you can build on your diving experiences within the UK as well as travel with us abroad. Past trips include the Red Sea, Sicilly, Malta and other warm water locations

PADI courses that have been held over the past few years are:

2004 - PADI Advanced Open Water, Emergency First Responder, Rescue Diver.

2005 - PADI Emergency First Responder, Rescue Diver.

Alternatively, you can elect to join BSAC, the largest Sport Diving Club in the world, which also brings with it the additional benefit of third party liability insurance. When you join BSAC you will crossover to the equivalent BSAC diving grade. However, you do not lose your PADI (or other organisations) qualification, and if you so wish, can cross back over at any time. More details of crossing over can be found here, on the BSAC SALT page, or contact the for more information.

Can I come diving with OUUEG?

PADI (and other organisation) qualified divers are very welcome to dive with OUUEG. All you need is to be a member of the Club (£30 per annum) and to have Third Party Insurance (available via BSAC membership for £18 per annum).

Can I train with OUUEG?

Yes! Your PADI qualification may be “crossed-over” to the closest equivalent BSAC qualification, then you can proceed with the BSAC training programme which is run each year within the Club. The equivalent qualifications are as follows:

PADI

BSAC

Open Water

Ocean Diver

Advanced Open Water

Ocean Diver

Rescue Diver

Sports Diver

Divemaster

Dive Leader

I am already a PADI Instructor, can I help out with OUUEG training?

Yes! BSAC recognises other Agency Instructor qualifications. All you need to do is attend a weekend course to learn about the BSAC syllabus and then start instructing. Contact huw.jenkins@wadh.ox.ac.uk if you are interested – we would love to have your help!

Can I complete my PADI training with OUUEG?

Occasionally it is possible to finish off a PADI qualification where you have completed part of the course: please contact huw.jenkins@wadh.ox.ac.uk in the first instance.
